Formerly known as SOE Fan Faire, SOE Live is a fan-oriented convention that focuses on Sony Online Entertainment's family of games. In addition to other activities, SOE have announced that this year's event will play host to announcements relating to the next iteration of EverQuest.As is known to us all, EverQuest is the the online game with captivating storytelling and exciting worlds. What is known about the title is that it is not a sequel or prequel to any of the games in the existing EverQuest franchise; instead, it is set in a parallel world version of Norrath - one in which specific details, relationships, and events may have played out differently to those in earlier games.
At SOE Live in 2012, John Smedley - president of Sony Online Entertainment - stated "What we are building is something that we will be very proud to call EverQuest. It will be the largest sandbox style MMO ever designed.We are remaking Norrath unlike anything you’ve ever seen, but you’ll recognize it."
Smedley also suggested they'd be looking to retain the pay-to-play model of previous games "for as long as possible."
According to the EverQuest Next homepage, the reveal is planned for August 2nd - day two of SOE Live, which runs from 1-4 August. The presentation for the game is set to take place at midday, and will be streamed live on Twitch.tv (7am, Saturday August 3rd in New Zealand.)
